I agree. Sasuke doesn’t like to show what he’s thinking but Kishi had to SHOW and not TELL what Sasuke was thinking. The audience is surprised precisely because the author doesn’t show the progression of Sasuke’s 180. No matter how “cold” he is, he had to have felt something and shown it, especially when people weren’t looking. Kishi doesn’t get off the hook just because Sasuke isn’t a very demonstrative person. He had the responsibility of showing us Sasuke’s journey and he didn’t do a good job of it if people are so confused/outright laughing at Sasuke’s declaration of wanting to be Hokage.

It also bothers me a lot that Sasuke doesn’t show any sort of remorse or owning up to his bad actions but that’s another thing entirely.

Honestly, this scene made me feel choked up, because Azula obviously craved her Mother’s love, like Zuko had, but because she was so much more taken under her Father’s ‘wing’ as it were, she became a twisted version of who she would have been.

And this scene. This fucking scene.

Just take a step back and think:

Her Mother is a hallucination here.

Azula is bitterly saying ‘Even you fear me.’ And back at Ember Island, you learn that, even though she was a tiny terror, she was hurt because her Mother was scared of her.

And the one thing that breaks Azula is the fact that a part of her knows exactly what her Mother would say. And she’d tell her she loves her.

And she wouldn’t be angry, or disappointed. She’d be sad.

Her people are from Florence, this and that, and she said she’s never been. She’s got 8 years of art education and she’s working a waitress job. It’s pretty… Sad and disappointing, I guess. Her and my father divorced 6 years ago and she hasn’t had a real job ever. Just been stuck in a small town she’s not from.

This man who we have never seen before tipped her 1000 dollars for a trip to Italy. Walked out, not another word.

…you know. Just when I start to lose faith in humanity….Hm.
